Rock Paper Scissors School Reward

Celebrating our first “Be The One” Whole School Reward

On Wednesday, November 10th, we had our first whole school reward of the year. Kids earned this reward by successfully meeting Fox Hill’s values of being respectful, responsible, safe, and kind since the first day of school. Our whole school reward, held on the playground hard top, was a “Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament and Dance Party.” Students competed to be classroom winners, grade-level winners, and an overall Fox Hill champion. Congratulations to our grade level winners Cannon, Evan, Oneli, Charlie, Tyler, and to Sam, our school champion! The very exciting and nail-biting “Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament” was immediately followed by a school-wide dance party where students let loose in showing off their dance moves! Everyone had a great time!
Thank you Fox Hill PTO for supplying winners’ t-shirts and trophy!

New Illness Policy
The Burlington Public School district has updated the COVID illness symptom checker. This new policy will go into effect on Monday, November 15, 2021. It is important that school is a safe and healthy environment for every individual that enters the building. If your child has the following symptoms, they will require a negative COVID test to return to school or remain home for 10 days. If your child’s symptoms do not meet the below criteria, please follow the standard illness policy. New screening consent forms have been emailed home and will be sent home in backpacks on Monday.

Symptoms: Does the student have:
ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  •  Fever (100ºF or greater) or chills, or have taken medication within the past 24 hours to lower their temperature (Tylenol/Motrin)
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Muscle or body aches (unrelated to physical activity/injury)
  • Cough (not due to other known cause, such as a chronic condition. Must have a medical note in the nurse's office for this condition.)
  • Sore throat

TWO OF THE FOLLOWING:

  •  Nausea (feeling sick to stomach)
  • *Vomiting (cannot come to school with this symptom per standard illness protocol)
  • *Diarrhea (cannot come to school with this symptom per standard illness protocol)
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies. Must have an allergy exemption on file in the nurse's office.)

If your child was exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 or if your child tested positive for COVID-19, keep your child home and contact the school nurse at 781-270-1792 and Burlington Board of Health at 781-270-1955.

Lunch and Snack Policy
Beginning on Monday, November 15, 2021, lunch period will return to the cafeteria and will no longer take place in the classroom. Due to this change, lunch brought from home is no longer required to be nut free. There will be an allergy friendly table in the cafeteria for students who require it.

With the increase in movement within the classroom and tiering beginning later this month, snack time in the classroom is going to return to a nut free snack only. See District Allergy Policy.

COVID Vaccine
The COVID Vaccine has been approved for emergency use for children ages 5-11. The Burlington Public School district is offering vaccine clinics at Burlington High evening 1-2 evenings per month. Visit the BPS website for updated information. Other locations that are providing the pediatric COVID vaccine are pediatrician offices, CVS, and Walgreens. PTO Thank You

Fox Hill PTO Update
The Fox Hill PTO would like to thank all those who supported our recent Pizza Works and Cherrydale fundraisers and made donations through Venmo (@Foxhill-pto). We are grateful for your continued support and no contribution is too small as we strive to provide enrichments and enhancements that benefit all Fox Hill students. We are actively thinking of ways to maintain a busy events schedule that supports community-building, gratitude, and family engagement. To that end, our next event is a coat drive for children and families. A donation box will be in the Fox Hill lobby to donate gently used or new warm winter coats for both children and adults from November 15th - January 8th.

Congratulations to last weekend’s Cherrydale $50 Amazon Gift Card Winner...
