CS Pathway

On the CS Pathway, students learn to Create, Collaborate and Communicate using Computer Science. Whether they are interested in healthcare, education, science, business, fashion, engineering, or the trades, the CS Pathway prepares them for a world that uses computers everyday and in every profession.

The BHS CS Pathway Program gives students the opportunity to explore careers, learn skills, and gain college credits in computer science.

Career Connections

The CS Pathway is free, open to everyone, and no computer experience is required. The courses meet BHS graduation requirements, students can opt-in or out anytime and academic support is available. To find out more, students can talk with their computer science teachers or counselor.

This program is part of a statewide High Quality College and Careers Initiative to expand students' access to hands-on learning and career exploration in high-demand careers. Burlington received two state grants to make the program possible: Innovation Pathway Grant and a Skills Capital Grant.

Coursework
Students take college level coursework at Burlington High School in computer science, including two AP options or a dual enrollment course with Middlesex Community College. Students also explore aspects of technology applications in the real-world through two additional elective courses.

Work-related experience
The pathway leads to a Senior Capstone Project, with mentors from industry partners who meet weekly with students. Students also have the opportunity to earn industry certifications aligned with industry.

Academic Support
For students new to technology, we provide academic support throughout the program.

Career Exploration
Through career exploration programs at BHS, students gain insight into their strengths and interests, research careers in computer science, and visit technology companies. Students attend workshops to help them apply for college and jobs. Students explore careers in software development, web and app development, robotics, cloud computing, data science, and artificial intelligence through virtual tours and guest speakers.
