Burlington offers students the option of participating in the Innovation Career Pathway programs starting in their sophomore year. Pathways build on core 21st-century skills by fostering communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. Through specific courses, career exploration activities, and work-related learning, students will be prepared for their future academic and professional endeavors.
Currently, BHS offers DESE-approved Innovation Pathway programs in Business and in Technology.
Students will take two (2) college-level (AP or CE) business or computer science courses at BHS in addition to two (2) elective or exploratory courses. They will also complete an Innovation Pathway Career Exploration Project or a 100-hour Capstone Project with industry mentors (formerly the “Flipped Internship”). Students receive additional career and academic planning to prepare them for career choices in the business or computer science fields.
Pathway programs are open to all students beginning in their sophomore year. Students who are interested in applying can obtain an application from their counselor, business or computer science teacher.
