Term 1 Report Card Distribution and Class Change

The end of a quarter is an opportunity for students to reflect on their progress and to identify strategies that are successful for them and opportunities for growth.  The Term 1 Report Cards are scheduled to go home on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. If you have questions about your child’s academic progress, please contact their teacher or guidance counselor.

On Wednesday, November 7th, students switched to their second quarter classes and the next Activity Block rotation will begin next week.

MSMS P.R.I.D.E and Mascot/Logo Contest

Last week, during our Halloween Assemblies, we communicated our core values, P.R.I.D.E., to our students.  We believe each core value is individually important and that members of our community should strive to demonstrate each of the values daily.  In the coming weeks, we will shine a spotlight on each core value, explicitly teaching students the importance of that value and actions and words that exemplify the value.

Now that we have shared P.R.I.D.E with all members of our community, Marshall Simonds Middle School is in need of our own Mascot.  This week, we are asking students to help decide what our Mascot should be! As you know, Burlington High School is known as the "Red Devils" and each of the elementary schools in town has their own mascot.  Once we have decided on our mascot, students in 8th grade art classes will have the opportunity to develop a logo, that we will ask students to vote on. We are looking forward to having our own “brand” that represents #MSMSPRIDE!

Lost and Found

Marshall Simonds Middle School’s Lost and Found is overflowing!  Please encourage your child to look through the items on the tables in the lobby for any items that they may be missing.  Any items left past after Friday, will be donated to a local charity.

MSMS PTO- November 8, 2018

The next MSMS PTO meeting is scheduled for this evening, November 8, 2018.  The meeting will take place in the Learning Commons beginning at 7:00 pm.

The Marshall Simonds Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is an incredible resource that supports the students and teachers of MSMS!  The MSMS PTO relies solely on the donations of our families to support programming, including transportation for field trips, in-school performances, and funding for the end of the year activities for our 8th grade students.  If you have not already made your tax-deductible donation, please visit the MSMS PTO Blog at https://msmsburlpto.wordpress.com/pto-donations/.  Thank you for your continued support!

NEW- Spin Club (8th Grade Students)

Want to join a fun and new activity for the Winter? BHS is starting a MSMS Spin Club at BHS starting on Tuesday, November 27th. This is great opportunity to try out a new activity that includes dance, movement, and equipment training, while getting to know members of the BHS Visual Ensemble (Color Guard) from the 2018 Marching Band Season! The club will meet every Tuesday at BHS through the beginning of April.

At the first rehearsal, we will be discussing what the club will entail, teach some equipment basics and a short routine that will be showcased during the BHS Winter Guard Friends and Family Show at the end of the season.

Please bring comfortable athletic clothing for movement. The Spin Club is open to ALL 8th grade students - join us to learn more!

After School Activities

We are excited to continue to continue to offer long standing after school activities to out students, in addition to providing new offerings.  We wanted to let you know that a school nurse is not present at before, during or after school extra-curricular programs. Families should communicate any health concerns with the group’s advisor.
