Through BHS Partnerships, students have additional career exploration experiences:
We are an Amazon Future Engineers School, and students in the Pathway are part of this program, and can earn Cloud Computing badges, apply for Amazon scholarships and are eligible for college internships with Amazon.
We are a TEALS school, and students have access to engineers who come into classes and share their experiences and expertise on a regular basis.
Microsoft - Girls in the program participate in Microsoft’s DigiGirlz program. About DigiGirlz Day During the event, students interact with Microsoft employees and managers to gain exposure to careers in business and technology and to get an inside look at what it's like to work at Microsoft. This exciting event provides girls with career planning assistance, information about technology and business roles, thought-provoking exercises, and interesting Microsoft product demonstrations. By participating in the Microsoft DigiGirlz Day, young women can find out about the variety of opportunities available in the high-tech industry and can explore future career paths.
MITRE is piloting an internship for 9th and 10th graders and the company encourages Burlington students to apply, and girls can attend their women in STEM day a day-long session that will allow young women in high school to experience the creativity and innovation of engineering, science, and technology through demonstrations, presentations, panel discussion and interactive design session with female engineers from The MITRE Corporation. The overall goal of this workshop is to enlighten college-bound girls about Engineering as a major. The workshop activities will dispel some of the common myths around engineering and answer questions that participants may have.
CGI provides a one day STEM camp to students, teaching hardware and Python, and discussing careers in consulting.
