Please, Please, Please ...  be respectful of our handicap parking spaces at Francis Wyman.  We have numerous students and parents who need accessibility to our school,  and these parking spaces give them proximity to doors and the space they need.  This has become a problem particularly during afterschool and evening activities. Thank you for respecting those with handicap placards.

Oklahoma Land Run Reenactment - presented by Mr. Stead's and Mrs. McIntyre's Grade 4 classes

On October 22, 1889, 50,000 people lined up for their piece of Oklahoma land.   The Homestead Act of 1862 allowed settlers to claim lots as big as 160 acres, provided they lived on the land and improved it. Check out the Francis Wyman reenactment here:

Robotics

Heading to their first Lego League competition, Dylan, Mehran, and Rohit are the YOUNGEST competitors.  Burlington is sending its first elementary team to this competition in Melrose tomorrow, December 8.  The team, known as the Space Potatoes, has been practicing twice a week since summer.  Way to go FWS fifth graders!

 

 

Crazy 8's Math Club

In action here with Mrs. Fortunato, Math Curriculum Coordinator, and Mr. Pera, FW Math Specialist, our Crazy 8's Math Club incorporates glow sticks, playing cards, and marshmallows to estimate and calculate!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hour of Code- Students in all grades participated in numerous activities which incorporated the Computer Science for All standards into their daily activities.  Each grade practiced their computer science and coding skills both in the classroom and at the Library/Learning Commons.
