2019-2020 Proposed Schedule Presentation

This year, we engaged in a process of reviewing our current schedule in an effort to develop a schedule that more effectively meets the diverse needs of our students.  On April 25, 2019, we presented the proposed schedule for the 2019-2020 school year. We are including the presentation here for families who were not able to attend the coffee hours.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Murphy or Ms. Perchase with any questions or feedback that you may have.

Talent Show

Planning for the End of the Year Talent Show is underway!  Any interested student (preference will be given to grade 8 students) who would like to audition for the Talent Show can sign up for an audition during activity block.  Please see the flyer that has been posted throughout the building for more information.

Pie Day- Save the Date, June 15, 2019

This year, the PTO and the Student Council have partnered to plan an exciting community event!  More detailed information will be shared soon! We are also looking for volunteers to help in planning and on the day of the event.   Please let us know if you would be interested in helping out!


We are looking for donations for the raffle table at Pie Day!  The Student Council representatives have identified different themes, by team.  Please see the flyer for your child’s team’s theme and consider sending in a donation.  Thank you for your support.

Logo Contest

The students have spoken and the results are in!  Congratulations to Caroline Sciarratta, 8C, for creating the NEW MSMS logo (check it out below).  We want to thank all the students who submitted logos for consideration and all the students who voted!


Yearbooks- 8th Grade Students

It is time to place your order for the Class of 2023 yearbook.  The cost of the yearbook is $16.00. Please turn cash or checks into homeroom teachers by Monday, May

The next round of MCAS testing is scheduled to begin in early May.  All students will be taking the Mathematics MCAS and students in grade 8 will take the Science, Technology, and Engineering assessment.  

The assessment window is determined by the state and individual schools have the ability to schedule within each window of time.  There are a number of factors that go into determining the testing dates and we do our best to provide a testing schedule that best meets the needs of students.  Below, please find the 2019 MCAS testing schedule for Marshall Simonds Middle School. Please keep these dates in mind as student absences during this time are particularly disruptive.

PTO- Next Meeting, rewards for fundraiser

The next PTO meeting will take place on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 7:00 pm.  This meeting will take place at Sweet Ginger, 184 Cambridge Street, Burlington.


Thank you to all the families who supported this year’s fundraiser.  Rewards, including homework passes, will be distributed to students beginning this week.
