Winter Break

The winter break is quickly approaching.  On behalf of the entire Marshall Simonds Middle School faculty and staff, I would like to wish you a restful, relaxing, and safe winter break.  Students will be dismissed at the regular time on Friday, December 21, 2018. School will be back in session on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Happy New Year!

Holiday Assembly

Today, thanks to the generosity of the MSMS PTO, students in each grade attended a performance by the Pulse of Boston.  The professional musical group performed a variety of popular songs, old and new, while our students sang and danced along.  Thank you to the PTO for continuing to support this long standing tradition!

Midterm Progress Reports

This week marks the midway point of the second quarter.  We will be sending home progress reports with students when we return from the break on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.   You are encouraged to log-on Aspen to check your child’s progress for the second term. If you have any questions regarding your child’s academic progress, please contact their teacher or guidance counselor.

Winter Concert- Save the Date

The Marshall Simonds Middle School music department will proudly present its Winter Concert for students in grades 6 through 8 on Wednesday, January  23, 2019. More specific details will be shared after the break.

Accepting Donations- Comfort Stations

Recently, two students presented a solution to a challenge that some of our female students were experiencing.  As a result, there are now “comfort stations” in two bathrooms within our building. While we do have supplies available in the nurse’s office, they are often not preferred by our students.   Please see the message from the students below and consider sending

We have recently come upon an idea to start a donation box for feminine products in the girls' bathrooms in the school. The donations will be dropped off at the main office and distributed by students to the bathrooms and nurse. The school is accepting non-opened packs of pads and liners. Any donation will be a big help and could help a girl in need. We feel as a community that everyone should feel comfortable at school and donating would help us get closer to this goal!

Homework Helpers

Homework Helpers is a program that involves high school students helping middle school students with their homework. The high school students log their hours and get community service credit for college applications and resumes.  It is up to families to make the connection and work out the details after you get the names. Please email Dr. Murphy at mmurphy@bpsk12.org with any questions or concerns.
