Pick up of children's belongings

Pick up of children's belongings

June 1, 2020

Dear Memorial School Families,

I hope this letter finds you safe and sound. Although it seems on many levels that time has stood still since we closed on March 12, it is in fact time to think about the end of the school year. If you are like me...you need a break. A time to not be a full time teacher, parent, therapist, entertainer and worker.  No one has felt the heavy burden of this pandemic more than parents. Thank you for taking the time to learn about educational platforms like Seesaw and Google Classroom. Thank you for selecting books on Epic and printing out forms for your children and getting them online for every google meet.  Thank you for reading with your children, playing with your children and listening to your children when they were feeling overwhelmed.  Thank you for making remote learning possible.

A few details for the end of the school year. Teachers will be cleaning out lockers and the classroom and collecting your children’s belongings this week. Unused  math workbooks, art portfolios and other consumables as well as medicines left with the nurse will be included.  There will be a parent pick up on Monday and Tuesday June 8-9 from 9:00-12:00pm. (both days are available for all grades) Parents with students in grades K-2 will line up in the front of the building and parents with students in grades 3-5 will line up in the back of the building. If you have children in both grades, just let a staff member know and we can gather everything for you.  Please stay in your vehicle and a staff member will assist you.

Some things to bring with you.

  1. We will be collecting any library or school books at the same time. iPad returns will be scheduled after June 19th. More to follow.

  2. If you are able to make a food pantry donation, we will be collecting and delivering items to the Burlington food pantry. There is a specific need for broths, canned tomatoes, pasta sauce, jelly, canned vegetables, flour and sugar, dish soaps.

  3. Some families have inquired about getting teacher gifts to staff. If you would like to drop off your small token of appreciation on June 8-9 we will get it to teachers.

If you have any questions, please email me at ddressler@bpsk12.org.  We will be working during the summer to prepare for next year. We should have more guidance from the governor in mid June.

With gratitude,

Deb Dressler
