BEF Provides Over 20K For Innovative Projects During 2018-19 School Year

The Burlington Education Foundation (BEF) presented its annual end-of-the-year update for the School Committee. The BEF granted over $20,000 in funds during the 2018-2019 school year to support innovative projects proposed by Burlington educators. BEF President Paula Boermeester highlighted the following grants from this past year:

  • FITStep Pro Pedometers were provided for all of the elementary schools so that Physical Education (PE) teachers could help students track their activity during PE activities. 
  • Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) - This program from the Boomerang Project covered the cost of two middle school staff members to attend a training to support the implementation this middle school orientation and transition program. 
  • BSmart Program at BHS - Motivational Speaker David Flood

BEF Presentation at School Committee

Mrs. Boermeester also discussed the annual events that the BEF sponsors to raise the funds that make these grants possible. In addition to there annual membership campaign, the BEF also sponsors STAR Awards, spring and fall raffles, Trivia Night, and the annual 5K road race. Mrs. Boermeester also noted the significant financial support that the local business community provides the BEF.
